POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary role of the Cybersecurity Co-Op is to assist in the initial investigation of alerts generated by the firm's Security Information and Events Management system (SIEM). This position requires a basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment. The Co-Op role offers a valuable opportunity for individuals interested in gaining Security Operations experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Investigate security alerts in collaboration with the firm's Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP), assessing potential impact and escalating as necessary.
- Respond to requests for support by leveraging the firm's tools to analyze suspicious emails, assess their legitimacy, and identify any related security risks.
- Assist with conducting research on the latest cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities to facilitate risk mitigation and vulnerability remediation.
- Assist with developing and regularly updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and incident response playbooks.
- Assist in the production of monthly and quarterly security metric reports.
- Participate in developing security awareness training materials.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor or Master degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related subject.
- Basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices, including email security and password management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Location: Boston, MA
This position is 4-5 days/week in the office.
