Job Summary
Managing directors are core stakeholders that drive executive client engagement and project
execution through excellent communication, driving stakeholder alignment, identifying and
engaging follow-on work opportunities with Clients. Managing Directors do this by engaging with
Client executives, stakeholders and Blackthorne’s internal execution teams. Managing Directors
serve as the communications hub for internal team and external client executive
communications and actively develop Client business relationships.

advisors for our teams and clients, ensuring that we deliver high quality services to protect and
defend our Clients.
Duties and Responsibilities
New client engagement:
• Leverage existing relationships to identify new potential Clients for Blackthorne.
• Develop new relationships to identify new potential Clients for Blackthorne.
• Communicate needs to marketing and other support for business development.
• Develop new business relationships with Clients.
Drive client engagement:
• Oversee Client and account level engagement, including, but not limited to:
o Tracking Client needs
o Tracking execution against Client needs
o Proactively identifying and communication around execution gaps and needs
o Tracking and communicating project and account escalations
o Ensuring that delivery meets client needs
o Developing follow-on work opportunities
• Analyze, plan, and develop requirements and standards in reference to scheduled
projects.
• Hold regular internal technical team meetings to track progress on technical initiatives
and impact on larger project capabilities and efficiency.
• Engage with Client executive teams on a regular basis.
• Review and communicate weekly Client updates (across multiple projects) that include
timeline updates, escalations, and project budget updates.
• Develop written project narratives that communicate Client background, stakeholders,
needs and objectives with clear success criteria for execution.
• Track progress on project narratives alongside project execution progress.
• Track deliverable timelines and project execution.
Develop existing client relationships:
• Develop and implement Client stakeholder and executive engagement plans.
• Track Client annual budget planning and procurement processes.
• Positively engage with Clients on proposals, including, but not limited to:
o Authoring proposals for new Client work
o Updating proposals with Client feedback
o Developing statements of work with Clients
• Deliver signed statements for work
o Author statements of work
o Track Client procurement processes
o Proactively identify potential issues in the procurement processes
Drive effective communications:
• Update deal status and tracking in Blackthorne tools.
• Establish and implement effective communications with various client stakeholders (at
different levels) and internal team members.
• Schedule, attend, and drive action items and follow-ups for Client and executive
meetings, and project stakeholder meetings to track progress and address any
questions, issues, and blockers for active projects.
Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business administration, technical fields or
demonstrate similar experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in a professional workplace setting (or
equivalent).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in cybersecurity consulting or professional services.
• Demonstrated understanding of Client engagement and business development
processes, strategies, and methods.
• Demonstrated track record of building and developing relationships with Fortune 500
clients and executives.
• Strong sense of personal accountability.
• Ability to take tasks and break down into work items for a team.
• Experience applying analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to predict challenges and seek to proactively head-off obstacles.
• Excellent time management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Outstanding written communication skills.
• Outstanding executive communications skills.
• Experience working in a high-level, collaborative environment and promoting a teamwork
mentality.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in a business or technical discipline.
• 4 years’ experience leading cybersecurity consulting engagements.
• At least 2 years of experience landing or expanding cybersecurity consulting
engagements.
• Experience staring or being an early employee at a cybersecurity consulting business.
Work Environment
Blackthorne is a fully remote company, with team members across the United States. We value
engagement with the team and continue to value in-person engagement through off-sites at
least once a year. Applicants should expect their maximum amount of travel to be 6-10 times
per year for no longer than a week.

This position reports directly to the CEO.
